Even though you are still in high school, it is never too early to start thinking about your future. Especially the future of your state and country. Voting is one of the most important things a person can do. Because the U.S. is a democracy, each one of you has the right to vote when you turn eighteen. Many people take this for granted. Young people are the future of this country, their voices should matter.
In 2024, which is two years away, there will be a very important election. The election will decide the direction of the country going forward, it is the next presidential election. Presidential elections are probably the most important elections in the country. You may feel that with such a large population, voting doesn’t matter. This has backfired in the past which argues every vote matters.
Voting is something that I feel very strongly about. My future is something I care a lot about and I believe this is the one thing everyone should also take seriously. Make sure you are registered to vote when you turn eighteen, we have resources available here at school to help you register! Also, take the time to educate yourself on the issues and people before you vote. I hope to see everyone 18 and older voting for their future on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. I know I will be!
