The 2023 Barberton High School musical is Mamma Mia! Rehearsals began in January and the show dates are March 23-26. The performances on the 23rd, 24th, and 25th are at 7:00 p.m. with the final show on Sunday the 26th at 2:30. All of these performances will be held in the BHS Theater. Mamma Mia is about a girl named Sophie who is getting married. She is invested in having a big white wedding and wants her father to walk her down the aisle. Sophie’s mother, Donna, never told her who her real father was. Sophie finds her mother’s diary and realizes that she has 3 possible dads and decides to invite them all to the wedding! After the guests show up, Sophie tries to figure out who her real dad is while keeping the secret that she was the one who invited them from her mother. Mamma Mia is a heartwarming story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. If that wasn’t convincing enough, all of the music in Mamma Mia is from the hit 70’s band ABBA.
This year’s cast is filled with people you know, and love, including Ashlynn Hanlin as Donna Sheridan, Kennedy Macko as Sophie Sheridan with Sophie Samples as an understudy, Aaron Miller as Sam Carmichael, Vincent Vinay as Harry Bright, Jackson Smith as Bill Anderson, Jackson Bullock as Sky, Kayd Vierheller as Tanya, and Melora Shue as Rosie with Moth Hepfl as an understudy.
