It seems that no matter the column or magazine, no one has a lack of gossip surrounding Kanye West. With New York Fashion Week just passing, rumors and words alike are flying around the infamous rapper. West was initially in hot water on October 4, when Vogue editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson called out his new Yeezy season 9 collection, which included “White Lives Matter” t-shirts. Karefa-Johnson called them “irresponsible” and labeled the shirts “pure violence”, to which West responded by posting images of her on Instagram for his fans to mock her physical appearance.
Models Gigi Hadid and Hailey Beiber jumped to the editor’s defense on social media. Kanye responded on Instagram and was not afraid to name call. “‘THEEYY don’t want beautiful black women to be put on their rightful throne,” West, 45, wrote. “They want corny Gigi Hadid and nose job Hailey Baldloose [Beiber] to rally behind an obvious Corey Gamble level nonfashion industry plant.” Gamble is the boyfriend of Kris Jenner, Kanye’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s mother.
Vogue itself also issued a statement in support of it’s employee, saying, “[Gabriella Karefa-Johnson] was personally targeted and bullied. It’s unacceptable.” The rapper revealed that he had apologized to Karefa-Johnson in private before restarting his feud with Hadid and Bieber, saying again on Instagram, “Gab is my sister. I’m not letting people go to bed thinking I didn’t meet with Gabriella at 5 p.m. today for 2 hours…” Karefa-Johnson responded to all of this by sharing with fans and supporters how exhausted she was and how grateful she was for the outpouring of support she had received. She also reiterated that she will always speak her mind and stand by what she says.
It seems that whether it’s Los Angeles or New York, Kanye West is always finding a way to make headlines.
