2022 Recap

It’s no question that 2022 was a year filled with so many events and releases that made it so memorable.

Changes With the Pandemic

2020 and 2021 were both years that focused on the pandemic and staying safe. In 2022, there was a lot more flexibility within the pandemic and the rules were a lot more relaxed. By the last half of 2022, most people were comfortable going mask-less and seeing friends and family.

BeReal

BeReal is a French app created in 2020. BeReal became popular around the middle of 2022. On the app, a notification goes off once a day that lets their users show their friends what they’re doing at that time. Since the takeoff of BeReal, other apps have also started trying to emulate BeReal. TikTok, for example, has a tab called “now” where users can post what they’re doing when the notification goes off, just like BeReal.

Concerts

Since the pandemic guidelines were made much more flexible in 2022, concerts were brought back with some newer rules. Certain venues only allowed vaccinated attendees or a negative test. Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, Clairo, and Tyler, the Creator were some of the spectacular tours that went on in 2022.

Albums

2022 was a huge year for music. Tons of big names were putting out much-awaited albums and projects. Beyoncé, for example, released her album, RENAISSANCE, in July of 2022. Her fans had been waiting patiently for a release since her last album from 2016. Harry’s House, Midnights, SOS, Gemini Rights, and Once Twice Melody were also successful albums from 2022.

Movies

For movie enjoyers, 2022 was an exciting year. Jordan Peele’s Nope, starring Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, and Steven Yeun, was released in July of 2022. Nope was widely talked about for months after its release and was well-received by audiences. Elvis, Top Gun: Maverick, Everything Everywhere All at Once, and The Batman were also all successful and talked about movies.

Celebrity Drama

Welcoming new projects from celebrities always welcomes drama with it. Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling, starring Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, and Chris Pine, was a mess of drama from practically the beginning of filming. Styles’ relationship with Wilde began the drama. At the premiere of the movie, a video came out involving Harry Styles and Chris Pine. To some people, it looked like Styles had spit on Pine. However, this drama was cleared up by Pine himself.

2022 was a great year for trends, pop culture, and media!
